Chinese Hospital
Here are two pictures from our visit to the hospital in Chengdu. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures in the ambulance but it was a lot like our ambulances inside. The actual vehicle from the outside looked a lot like a station wagon.
In case anyone checks this, I have my cell phone back (new phone, same number)
FYI - Tracy lost her cell phone somewhere in the Beijing Airport so don't try calling her on her cell. If you need her, e-mail or try the home phone (404-815-1573). We're back in Atlanta :)
Shawn is a popular man on the airplanes ... he can reach the overhead bins for everyone ;)
If you are an American girl in China with her tall, blond husband you will be asked to pose for many pictures and random people want you to talk to their children in English! So fun :)
Just because it looks pretty in the picture on the menu doesn't mean it's going to do great things for your stomach!
A ride in a Chinese ambulance and short stay in a Chinese hospital only costs around $50 US dollars.
Holding up the "peace" sign with your fingers in pictures means "Victory" to the Chinese. All Chinese people do it ... when in Rome ;)
Figured this out on the last day: It is Chinese custom to order so much that your guests can't possibly eat it all. No wonder I've gained 5 lbs. I've been trying to clean all the plates!
The desserts in China are literally 1/4th the size they are in America (and not nearly as sweet). Probably why they are so much smaller than us ;)
This year is the year of the Golden Pig. The year of the Pig is the best year and this "Gold Pig Year" only comes once every 70 years. Gabriela, your little girl will be very lucky :)
Be careful about who you let listen to your pulse, they might say your nuts.
Riding in a Chinese cab is an experience every tourist to China should have. You will pray for your life like never before.
My blog entry dates are a day behind. Even though it says Monday, it's actually Tuesday in China (FYI)
Pickled chicken feet are very popular here (I'm not too crazy about them)
Female pandas can only conceive 3 days out of the year!
Drinking cold, bottled water in China is not considered normal. Hot water only!
The beds are very hard ... good for the back?
When you are on the internet in China, everything is in Chinese! (hard to know where to go or what to click)
Be prepared to have a 12 hour layover in Amsterdam
Most China airlines only allow 44 lbs. of luggage weight
I am over half-way through my China experience. Time has flown by! I had a rough start but I'm so thankful to my husband, mother, father and Donna for making me tough it out. This is an experience I will remember for the rest of my life and I can't wait to share it with Shawn in person and my family and friends with pictures and stories.
